How to Send and Receive Emails Automatically in Outlook 2010

Tapping your foot waiting for those emails to come in? Here’s how to set your emails to come in automatically as often as you want:

  1. Click on the Send/Receive tab on the ribbon at the top of your screen.
  2. In the “Send & Receive” section on the left, click on “Send/Receive Groups.”
  3. Click on “Define Send/Receive Groups” in the dropdown menu.
  4. In the box that pops up, check the box next to “Schedule an automatic send/receive every __ minutes.”
  5. Fill in the number of minutes you want and click on the Close button.
Hopefully your emails will come in faster now!

  1. Just a note of “Thanks” as you may not receive as you should, but the “0” in the space line works.

  4. But how do you get it to send and receive when you enter the program and as soon as someone sends you an email. I can’t believe they make you go click the button every time you want to see your email. Why does MS software keep getting worse?

    • Your email will come in automatically when you open the program. From then on it will come in automatically at the intervals you chose. However, anytime you want to check your email immediately just click on the Send/Receive all folders button. It’s located on the right-hand side of the Home tab.
